“A Ledge to Perch: Architectures for Thriving” by Hannah Newman
A text and image reflection of Luke Armitstead’s A sculpture for my garden and the launch of Hide & Seek Gallery
“In talking with Luke Armitstead about A sculpture for my garden we spoke of storage spaces, gardens, street tree lists, and gallery scenes. The in-progress sculpture Luke describes over the phone is meant for the outdoors, a sculpture for the garden in his yard. In its future life, the artwork will become a structure for mosses, lichens, insects, birds, and other living things to inhabit. Luke is not just making an artwork, or even an artplay. Luke is making an ecosystem.”
