Winter Pop-Up Shop
Winter was celebrated in full h&s style …leaves, snowflakes and white lights.
We wanted to say a big “thank you” to all who came out on the cold and rainy night of December 17th. Selecting a retail space that was vacant for a couple of days seemed perfect. We got the keys at 9am and opened the doors at 5pm. A whirlwind of installation and gathering of artists works and making it all appear like we’ve been there for months …classic. The gallery/boutique was filled with items that were perfect for the gift giving season. Including books, zines, t-shirts, cd’s, prints, pins and small original works. Ryan Gregory Tallman provided a winter sound-scape during the course of the evening using live sample recordings from bells to wine glasses. All of the family showed works, from paintings and drawings to photographs, sculptures and cards. Most works were new and made solely for this exhibition. At the end of the evening Grand Canopy was to perform solo, but with three friends in tow, erupted into an all out jam session that packed the house to the tilt. Bringing a theremin along with them, the performance was just epic …wishing we could have stayed open all night. Thank you Mike Adame.
